For the safety and well-being of customers and staff, the company has introduced additional safe management measures. These include limiting the number of people entering the showrooms based on Enterprise Singapore's guideline of one person to every 10m2. In the event that the limit is reached, customers will be asked to queue at clearly demarcated spots, which are one metre apart. In addition, each group viewing cars in the showroom will be limited to five or fewer persons, including the sales consultant(s).

The following measures will also be implemented:

  • High-touch points in display cars will be sanitised after every viewing;
  • Customers will be reminded to sanitise their hands before entry and after exit;
  • Display cars will be well ventilated when there are people inside;
  • Only one group of customers will be allowed to view any car at any point of time. In the event that there is another group of customers viewing the car, customers will need to wait until the first group is done;
  • All sales consultants will use face shields and masks on test drives;
  • Test drives per car are limited to only customers from the same household;
  • Each test drive is limited to 15 minutes;
  • Availability of hand sanitisers in the cars and
  • Thorough sanitising of test drive cars, before and after test drives

Part of the stepped-up measures mean closing some facilities such as the children’s play areas, and not serving food and only bottled or packet beverages.

These measures are in addition to existing ones put in place when service centres reopened and new car delivery services resumed, such as temperature taking, cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch areas, removal of high-touch items such as newspapers and ensuring the availability of hand sanitisers on-site. For contact tracing purposes, all persons on-site have to log in and out via SafeEntry.

“While Singapore is excited to resume life in the ‘new normal’, we must not forget that the fight against COVID-19 is far from over. As we welcome customers back, safety continues to be our top priority. The extra measures may cause some inconvenience, such as limiting the number of customers at any one time, but this is in everyone’s best interest. I thank customers in advance for their patience and understanding,” said Mr Paulson Tan, Deputy Head, Singapore, Motor Image Enterprises.
